Sarah Stapp

Former Hornet standout Sarah Stapp begins her fifth season as an assistant coach at Sacramento State and her first as top assistant. Stapp will serve as Jenkins' recruiting evaluator and scouting coordinator while also working with the perimeter players. In addition, she will be in charge of the team's conditioning program, tape breakdown and overseer of Sacramento State team camps. Stapp, who played for the Hornets from 1992-96, can be found in several Sacramento State all-time record categories. She ended her Hornet career third all-time in scoring (1,438 points) and free throws made (360), and fourth in field goals made (468). She is also the program's career leader in free throw percentage (.827, 360-435), three-point field goals (142) and three-pointers attempted (399). Stapp led the Hornets in scoring as both a junior (14.1 ppg) and a senior (15.8 ppg) and was second on the team to Kristy Ryan as a sophomore (15.0 ppg). Her career high came against San Jose State in 1993 when she dropped in 28 points. She scored 26 on three occasions as a senior while leading the team in scoring in 13 of 28 games.

Stapp graduated from Sacramento State in December of 1997 with a degree in liberal studies and received her teaching credential from Chapman University in 1999. A native of Modesto, Calif., Stapp attended Thomas Downey High School where she also competed on the track team in the 400 meters and the mile relay.
