Sarah Stapp

Former Hornet standout Sarah Stapp begins her fourth season as an assistant coach at California State University, Sacramento. Her coaching duties include working with the guards, on-court instruction, film exchange, recruiting and conditioning.

Stapp, who played for the Hornets from 1992-96, can be found in several Hornet record categories. She ended her Hornet career third all-time in scoring (1,438 points), and free throws made (360), and fourth in field goals made (468).

She is additionally the Hornets' career leader in free throw percentage, converting on 360-of-435 attempts (.827). She is also Sacramento State's career leader in three-point field goals attempted (399) and made (142). Stapp led the Hornets in scoring as both a junior ( 14.1 ppg) and a senior (15.8 ppg) and was second on the team to Kristy Ryan as a sophomore (15.0 ppg).

Stapp's career high came against San Jose State in 1993 when she dropped in 28 points. She scored 26 on three occasions as a senior while leading the team in scoring in 13 of 28 games.

Stapp graduated from CSUS in December of 1997 with a degree in liberal studies and is currently pursuing a teaching credential at Chapman University with the intent to teach elementary school upon completion.

A native of Modesto, Calif., Stapp attended Thomas Downey High School where she also competed on the track team in the 400 meters and the mile relay.
