Israel Update

Maccabi Ramat Hen advanced to the Israeli Cup quarter finals with two easy wins over ASA Jerusalem, who is still missing 2 foreigners. In the first game Ramat Hen won on the road 85-46. Plenette Pierson led all scorers with 23 points, Tawona Alhaleem scored 17 and Edwina Brown added 14 for the winners. Valerie Muoneke led Jerusalem with 19. In the 2nd game Ramat Hen won 102-50 at home. Alhaleem and Pierson scored 25 & 14 points respectively, Muoneke had 13 for Jerusalem.

Ramat Hasharon, Elizur Ramla, Bnei Yehuda, Maccabi Ashdod, Elizur Holon & Maccabi Raanana advanced to the cup’s quarter finals automatically. Hapoel Petah Tikva’s and Hapoel Haifa/Motzkin’s 1/8 finals home & home series was postponed to a later date since they couldn’t get their budget approved due to bureaucracy problems that have to do with the upcoming elections in the local authorities (don’t ask).

Because of that issue, and the customs strike which made it difficult for teams to bring in foreigners, the start of league has been pushed back 3 days. The season is set to open on October 23rd.
